How Does User Experience (UX) Influence Behavior?

May 20, 2016 - 7:30am -- goldlilys

“People's behavior makes sense if you think about it in terms of their goals, needs, and motives” - Thomas Mann

What is your name? Where were you born and raised? Do you speak multiple languages? How many siblings do you have?

How do you prepare every morning? What kind of clothes do you wear? How do you style your hair? How do you accessorize?

How did you arrive at where you are? What do you love to do? Who influenced you? Why did you decide to become you?

Why Does Growth Require Maintenance?

January 29, 2015 - 7:30am -- goldlilys

“A living cell requires energy not only for all its functions, but also for the maintenance of its structure.” - Albert Szent-Gyorgyi

Anything worth growing requires proper maintenance. Without maintenance, things become obsolete and outdated. Why? Because everything in the world changes. Things improve and new upgrades are released after the product has been built.

Vision Systems Technology

Kris Balch, President of VST, reached out to Goldlilys Media to inquire how to make their existing website easier to manage. At first, they wanted a way to keep track of users who download their files, have a login system and maybe create a cleaner interface for their online presence. Their requests seemed simple enough, until Goldlilys Media browsed their previous website.

What Is The Difference Between Web Design And Web Development?

September 12, 2013 - 2:25pm -- goldlilys

Web Design focuses more on the front-end look and feel of a website. The front-end is what your visitors/users will see. It is what makes your website unique and that creativity will help users remember your business and keep them coming back for more.

The focus of web development is the back-end features and functionality of a website. Developers make the vision of the Web Designers come to life. Web developers learned programming languages like PHP, Javascript, or ASP to create logical algorithms to make features and interactions possible.

Twitter Bootstrap Theme with Drupal and Compass/SASS

August 26, 2013 - 10:59pm -- goldlilys

To save time and money when developing complex sites, frameworks like Drupal and Compass/SASS were invented. Before these frameworks existed, websites that relied heavily on content management, and custom made programming would require clients to have a humongous budget. Why? Because doing everything from scratch to code all of the different features would take hours and hours to implement, test, Q&A, debug and test again. A software program is only as good as the developer/tester who created it. But, if a program is only being tested by a few people, how trustworthy can it be?

Intro to Compass and SASS

May 31, 2013 - 4:19pm -- goldlilys

There are many open source frameworks that are released to make theming simpler. One of the problems that themers / front-end developers usually face is the amount of CSS3 features that many want to use, but not all of the different browsers has the capability of getting it working correctly. Therefore, CSS preprocessors like Compass and SASS makes this possible by having predefined mixins, variables, rules and inheritance that are similar to the concepts of Object Oriented Programming.
